Rachana Bedekar

Rachana is an experienced advisor to the senior management of large organisations. She has worked extensively within the financial services industry, augmented by extensive knowledge of the energy and engineering sectors from a previous chapter in her career. She has successfully delivered different project forms, but focuses primarily on strategy, process and systems optimisation, transaction advisory, and operating model engagements. 

 

Prior to joining Iconiq, Rachana held various positions at large corporates. Most recently, she managed the Diners Club & Standard Bank Card Credit portfolios, where she was responsible for the end-to-end strategies for these portfolios to manage the credit risk. She has also worked at Letsema Consulting where she successfully delivered several large transformation and innovation projects in South Africa.

 
Rachana has a B.Sc (Eng) and M.Sc (Eng) in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she was awarded the "Best Postgraduate Student" award. She also holds a MBA from Wits, and a Certificate in Foundation Management from GIBS.

Neil Lister

Neil has worked with the senior management of leading financial institutions in Europe and Africa over the past 15 years. Across these geographies he has worked extensively with corporate, investment and retail banks, development finance institutions, wealth managers, insurers, and asset managers. He has built and led large, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on his clients' objectives, most recently as Managing Director for Accenture’s FS team in Africa. 


He advises on topics including corporate finance transaction structuring and support; digital strategy development for complex financial services institutions; and the design and implementation of risk management and financial management frameworks. He has been involved in organic expansion programmes and inorganic transactions across the African continent. These include several of the largest transactions in recent years in the South African market.

Wayne Borchardt

Wayne has 27 years of strategy and management consulting experience with multinationals and large local firms in Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria), Europe (UK, Germany) and Asia (Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia).  His consulting experience includes 23 years with Accenture, the last 11 of which as a Managing Director in Accenture Strategy, based in Cape Town, South Africa.


His functional focus and passion is Strategic Decision Making, where he spearheaded the development and training of Behavioral Science and Decision Analysis concepts within Accenture Strategy, ran the training for four years at Accenture’s global Strategy College. For the last five years he has led The Decision Advisory Group, which provides education and niche consulting services in strategic decision making.  He is adjunct faculty at University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business where he teaches Strategy and Strategic Decision Making to MBA students and executive education participants. He is also adjunct faculty at Hult-Ashridge for executive education.

  

Wayne’s industry experience is in Consumer Goods, Retail, Industrial Equipment, Automotive, Healthcare, Professional Services, and Financial Services.

He has functional expertise in Growth Strategy, Enterprise Transformation, pre- and post-deal M&A, Value Targeting, Operating Model Strategy, and Financial Performance Analysis.


He has a B.Sc (Eng) and M.Sc (Eng) (University of Cape Town, 1992), has completed Kellogg’s Advanced Business Management Program (Northwestern University, Chicago, 2001), has a professional certificate in Strategic Decision and Risk Management (Stanford University, Palo Alto, 2016), and is a certified practitioner in the Society of Decision Professionals.  He has a Ph.D. in Behavioral Strategy (topic: The impact of overconfidence bias on firm performance). His Ph.D. supervisors were Professor Mikael Samuelsson (University of Cape Town) and Professor Dan Lovallo (University of Sydney)

David Rabinowitz

David is an experienced advisor in strategy and decision making. He is a father of 3 and married to Romi. He uses his critical thinking and entrepreneurial, ‘real world’ experience in advising clients on their most important decisions.


Prior to joining Iconiq, David was at Step Advisory for eight years. David also worked in the Deloitte Strategy & Innovation practice for 5 years until he left to run his own business. He then partnered with Step Strategy Execution to deliver a key transformation programme in cost savings for ABSA. 


David has an MBA from GIBS specialising in Project Finance.
